Live Wires Update

I’ve had a bunch of folks ask so here’s a quick update. I received my Live Wires quite a while ago. They came very fast. However, I need to get the left ear refit because I can’t get a good seal on it. I’ve been meaning to go get this done for quite some time now, but I just haven’t had time to get up to the audiologist to get them redone. That being the case, I can’t really give feedback on them just yet, but I can say that everyone who has received them is pretty happy with them.

If you’re looking at getting them, please don’t let the seal thing scare you off. When they came down and made molds for us, they spent several hours and took molds for a TON of people (at least 50) so it was to be expected by me that they’re not all going to be right the first time. I had molds made the very next day by the same guys as they were finishing up to get some custom earplugs made, and those fit like a glove.

Whenever I get around to getting my Live Wires redone, I’ll let you know what I think of them. In the meantime, just based on the feedback I’ve gotten from my monitor guys who got them and the band members who got them, I think you’re safe to order them if you’re thinking about it. Everyone seems to highly recommend them over the E5’s we were using.

    This is good to hear.

    Another slightly related question:
For your guy’s click track, I’ve noticed on the 722 webcasts, it seems to me that some of the worship leaders might be tapping it in themselves? I seem to have noticed this more on Kristian…

Are they using something like a DB90 with a FS-5U momentary switch, or are they using a non-latching footswitch with say, Ableton Live?

  • I’m not sure about how 7|22 handles their click and loops. For our services, they use Pro Tools on our campus. 7|22’s drummer, Elliott, is also the music director at Browns Bridge, and I know he’s a big fan of Ableton Live so he’s probably using that. He might have some kind of a controller he uses, but I’m not sure. I would suggest you check out his blog at http://drummingideas.wordpress.com/.
